Inspired by pop artist, editorial photography and the endless world of computer design and animation, Buitrago created a system based on; THE PIXEL. Hundreds of symmetrical wood blocks, hand-painted individually with acrylics, then neatly assembled in a elaborate woodworking process to create the factors of illusion and distance in each piece. When viewed up close, you see a modern display of colored blocks but as you question its form, your eyes and mind develop the need for distance between you and the piece, making a distinct image appear.
